Julia Swinson

Background
Julia is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She is a graduate of the Master of Social Work program at the University of Toronto and received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Toronto.
Julia has been providing counselling to individuals, couples, families, and groups since 1985. In addition to her private practice, Julia works as an individual and family counsellor in the Kitchener/Waterloo and Cambridge area and has been a member of the Waterloo Region Sexual Assault Domestic Violence Treatment Centre since 1994. She has also worked as a counsellor at Conestoga College in the Focus for Change program. She began her career at the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto.

Practice
Julia has a broad range of experience and training supporting people facing a variety of life challenges including anxiety, depression, relationship and parenting issues, sexual assault and abuse. She has advanced training in working with those affected by trauma. Julia is an Assistant Practicum Professor, part-time with Wilfrid Laurier University Faculty of Social Work. She has specialized training in EMDR (Levels 1and 2).

Pam McCann


Background

Pamela is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She is a graduate of the Master of Social Work program at the University of Toronto and received her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Western Ontario.
Pam has been providing counselling to individuals, couples, and families since 1984. She has spent the majority of those years in the healthcare field assisting clients with adjustment to illness, end of life transition, caregiver support, and negotiating challenges within the healthcare system. In addition to her private practice, Pam has worked as an individual and family counsellor with the Waterloo Region Sexual Assault Domestic Violence Treatment Centre since 2001. She began her career in the Maritime provinces working in child welfare.

Practice
Pam has a wide breadth of skills and experience, working with people of all ages who are facing a broad range of issues. She has experience and training supporting people facing a variety of life transitions and challenges including anxiety, depression, family and relationship stressors, sexual assault and abuse, as well as intimate partner violence. She has responded to acute trauma in hospital settings for more than 15 years. Throughout her 20 plus years in the health field, Pam has developed strong relationships and familiarity, which is immeasurable. She has advocated and assisted clients as they navigate through this complex system.
